New Perry Hall Elementary School Breaks Ground

Perry Hall's new elementary school marked a milestone on Monday.

PERRY HALL, MD — Community leaders celebrated one of the first milestones of Perry Hall's elementary school construction project on Monday morning. The new school, which is slated to open by fall 2018, was the site of a ceremonial groundbreaking at 4816 Joppa Road. Construction is already underway, so the ribbon-cutting at the site was symbolic.

The new school will have a capacity of 725 students and is designed to help ease packed schools in the Perry Hall area.

“Our rezoning decisions have lightened the impact of development on overcrowding, and now we have officially broken ground on the first of three new schools to eliminate this problem," County Councilman David Marks said in a statement.

"I grew up a half-mile from this school site," he added. "It will serve the bulk of central Perry Hall, both older neighborhoods and the newer Honeygo communities.”
