Parents: Saving Money on Kids' Summer Clothes

The weather is warm, the sun is shining and the kids are counting the days until the end of school, which makes this the perfect time to update your kids' wardrobes with warm weather fashions. You can even be economical about it, if you follow these easy tips.

The first tip is obvious—utilize coupons whenever possible. A quick search on the Internet will get you coupons to local favorites, as close as White Marsh, like Carter's, The Children’s Place, Old Navy, American Eagle, Justice and more.

One of my favorite coupon sites is MommySavesBig.com. I almost always find a deal that will save me money when I’m out shopping.

Another tip to save you money this spring is to use —like SnapAppy from Old Navy. My kids love this one.

When we get to the store, we embark on a scavenger hunt for logos, scanning them until we score a coupon. Other apps, like Coupon Sherpa, can also save you money, if you’ve left your printed coupons at home.

I love Little Kidsmart at 8841 Belair Road because it offers great quality clothes for kids of all ages at really affordable prices. The store seems to have just about everything I’ve ever gone looking for at unbeatable prices.

Last month, I bought designer blazers for each of my boys for less than $10 each. Where else can you get a deal like that? It is also a terrific store if you’re a new or expectant mom in need of baby gear!  

Another idea for saving money on clothes for your kids is to host a clothing swap. I was recently invited to one of these for grownup fashions. But it got me thinking, surely there’s no reason I couldn’t do this for my kids!

All you have to do is invite a bunch of friends with kids of all ages and ask them to bring clean, gently used clothes. Each person sets up a station where they can swap items with friends.

It’s a great way to update your children’s wardrobe and it might be a really fun mother/daughter activity for those of you with tweens and teens.

I love living in Perry Hall, especially when it comes to shopping. There are so many fantastic stores that give my kids the clothes they love. And I’ve become a much , making my dollar go a lot further.
