Perry Hall Councilman Will Automatically Be Reelected

While some candidates filed this week and the race is just beginning, for one Perry Hall man, the election is pretty much over.

Baltimore County Councilman David Marks, who represents District 5—which includes parts of Towson, Loch Raven, Carney, Parkville, Perry Hall and Kingsville—was the only person to file for the position.

He was the first candidate to run unopposed in the primary or general election in more than three decades in the district, according to a statement from the Marks campaign.

"I’m humbled by the confidence the voters have placed in me," Marks said. "I will not let them down."

Once Marks is automatically reelected in November, he will focus on schools, he said in a statement released Wednesday.

During his first term, Marks said he downzoned more than 400 acres of land to lighten development, helped advance the construction of four new parks in Perry Hall and pushed for the resurfacing of more than 15 miles of roads in hist district, including Bangert Avenue, Snyder Lane, and Chapel, Forge and Joppa Roads.

Baltimore County Council members serve four-year terms.

“In our second term, I want to finish many of these park projects and help guide the school improvement process that will begin this fall in northeastern Baltimore County,” Marks said.

"The school system will hopefully finally address the overcrowding problem that has impacted Perry Hall and White Marsh for too long," Marks said.
