Perry Hall Patch Makes Front Page News

The Daily Record in Baltimore spotlighted the Perry Hall Patch as a new local media outlet

The Daily Record, a Baltimore business and legal newspaper, featured the Perry Hall Patch on the front page of its weekday edition on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The article, which was only available on newsstands and to print and online subscribers, included quotes from Perry Hall Patch editor Emily Kimball, regional editor for Baltimore and Harford counties Doug Donovan and editorial director Tim Windsor.

Liz Farmer reported, "Kimball's new employer, Patch.com, hopes to seize audiences—and local business advertising dollars—in its expansion of what it calls 'hyperlocal' community journalism."

In further describing Kimball's position, she added, "Each Patch site has one editor who acts as a one-man band. It's not for the faint at heart—most are writing at least half the stories that appear online, and the rest of the time is spent securing freelancers in the area who can contribute content."

Following the article's publication, Perry Hall Patch received multiple emails and Facebook messages from readers throughout the Baltimore area.
