Perry Hall Turf Field In 2018 Budget Proposal

A turf field at Perry Hall High School will likely be used three to five times more than natural grass fields, county official says.

TOWSON, MD — A new turf field for Perry Hall High School is on the horizon, after County Executive Kevin Kamenetz previewed his latest budget proposal.

The proposed budget for 2018 includes $800,000 for a turf field at Perry Hall High School, according to a statement from the county government.

“These fields are literally used from morning to night, and are not affected by the weather," Kamenetz said in a statement. He said they are used three to five times as much as natural grass fields.

"When the community approached me to help with this project, I immediately met with the County Executive. I could not be more pleased to hear that this field is being funded," Councilwoman Cathy Bevins said in a statement. "Adding a turf field at Perry Hall High School is just outstanding news."

Paul Muller, who helped lead fundraising efforts with the Perry Hall High School Athletic Boosters, said the project was a team effort.

“This is a big day for Perry Hall, and I can’t thank County Executive Kamenetz and Councilwoman Bevins enough for their enthusiasm and public support of this project. I also want to thank everyone in Perry Hall and all of the elected officials for working together to make this happen for our community," Muller said. “I feel like it is Christmas Day."

The county executive's full budget proposal will be released on Thursday, April 13.
