Perry Paw Dog Park Opens in Perry Hall
The dog park is the fourth in Baltimore County.
Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz joined Perry Hall dog lovers at a recent ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of Perry Paw Dog Park, which is the fourth dog park in the county.
Located at Honeygo Run Regional Park, the facility cost $205,000 to create, according to a statement from Kamenetz.
It is a members-only park, run by the Perry Paw Dog Park Committee, which handles rules and regulations, memberships and daily operations. The group raised $20,000 to contribute to the construction of the park, the statement said.
"The committee has waited a long time for this day, and now our dogs will have a beautiful, safe place to run and play," Perry Paw Dog Park Committee co-chair Barb Waskiewicz said.
Features of the park include the following:
- Doggie water fountains
- 0.34-acre area for small dogs
- 1.06-acre area for larger breeds
- Vinyl coated fencing around the perimeters
- Trash containers and dog waste collection unit
- Key card entry system for members
- Porous concrete walkways for Americans With Disabilities Act access
- Benches
Perry Paw Dog Park is the fourth dog park in Baltimore County, according to Kamentez. Others are Wags Dog Park at St. Helena Park in Dundalk, Paw Point at Robert E. Lee Park in Mount Washington and the B.A.R.C. Park at Hannah More Park in Reisterstown.
"As an animal lover, I understand that pets are a part of the family and I am very proud that we are able to manage the fiscal resources of our county wisely to invest in quality of life improvements like this all across Baltimore County," Kamenetz said in prepared remarks.
Councilman David Marks, who represents Perry Hall, said that this is the first of three park projects to be completed in the next two years in Perry Hall. Angel Park and Soukup Park are the others.
