Teen Arrested in Attempted Phone Theft at Starbucks

Police have arrested a Baltimore man and charged him with trying to steal a cell phone outside of the Starbucks on The Avenue at White Marsh.

A man approached a 33-year-old Essex resident outside of the coffee shop shortly before 11 p.m. on May 4. The man asked for money and then tried to steal the victim's Sprint Sanyo cell phone, worth about $200. He was unsuccessful, police said.

Police said they found the would-be robber shortly after the incident. The man, who was identified by the victim, was walking along The Avenue.

Police arrested Deshawn Donte Quick, 18, of the 2400 block of Dorton Court in Baltimore, and charged him with second-degree assault, attempted robbery and attempted petty theft, according to the police report.
