Rescue From Fullerton Fire Earns 3 Men Commendation

Fire officials said three men saved someone from a burning house in Fullerton, and they will be recognized for their act of bravery.

TOWSON, MD — Three men who rescued someone from a house fire in Fullerton will be honored Thursday at the Baltimore County Fire Department's annual commendations ceremony. They are among six non-fire personnel to be recognized at the event.

Officials said that the trio who saved a person trapped inside a burning Fullerton residence will be issued the Citizen's Commendation Award.

The other non-firefighters being honored include two men who pulled someone from a jet ski crash in Frog Mortar Creek in Middle River and a woman who put herself at risk to care for an unconscious driver whose car went over an embankment in Freeland, officials reported.

The department will present its highest award to two firefighters who rescued someone trapped in a burning house in Lansdowne.

An officer seriously injured in a fatal fire in the Towson area last summer will be given the department's purple heart award, officials said.

The recipients were selected from nominations submitted to the fire department's commendations board, made of career and volunteer fire personnel. The board considered factors such as skill, intelligent decision-making, risk and bravery in determining the winners.

The Baltimore County Fire Department's annual commendations ceremony will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Loch Raven High School, 1212 Cowpens Avenue in Towson.
