Ruxton Chocolates to Move Production to White Marsh
A chocolatier known for Easter candies will lease space in a new development off MD 43.
WHITE MARSH, MD — A beloved Baltimore chocolatier is coming to town, with the help of Baltimore County lawmakers.
An $8 million bond was approved by the county council Monday on behalf of a company seeking to build a facility for Ruxton Chocolates to lease.
The resolution states that "1412 Tangier LLC" will build the production facility at 1412 Tangier Drive. The 100,444-square-foot building will be located on 10 acres at the Baltimore Crossroads, a mixed-use development near I-95 at MD 43.

Once the facility is complete, it will be leased to Ruxton Chocolates, which will produce and manufacture chocolates and other candy, the agreement said.
Construction is anticipated to begin in October, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported the facility plans to employ more than 40 people when it opens in June 2017.

Ruxton Chocolates — which owns Mary Sue Candies (famous for its Easter eggs) and Naron chocolates — plans to sell its other properties and consolidate operations at the White Marsh facility, the newspaper reported.
The resolution approved by Baltimore County lawmakers states that the $8 million economic development bond money will be issued within one year of the agreement being signed, and Tangier LLC will have to repay the money.
