Second Perry Hall Walgreens to Open Early May
Between 25 and 30 employees are expected to be hired before the store's opening.

The at the corner of Silver Spring Road and Belair Road is expected to open in early May, according to a company official.
The store's opening will be the result of more than a year of construction, starting with the deconstruction of the Direct Home Furnishings store, formerly . The property was to Walgreens in 2010.

The store was originally in winter 2012. In an email to Patch, Walgreens spokesperson Vivika Panagiotakakos stated that "weather, permits and construction" all impact a store's opening date.

At about 14,550 square feet, the new store will include a pharmacy, a grocery section and "aisles of everyday essential items," Walgreens spokesperson Robert Elfinger told Patch in .
The location will be Perry Hall's second and will join a list of drug stores in the local community.
Its construction has drawn ire from some residents, causing one Patch reader to Perry Hall change its signs to include: "Welcome to Perry Hall, a great place to get your prescriptions filled!"
The new Walgreen's location is just two miles from an . But this isn't uncommon, company spokesperson Tiffani Washington told Patch in . Nearly two-thirds of Americans live within three miles of a Walgreens, she said.
The new store's placement is the result of extensive research and is likely in response to Perry Hall's aging population, Washington said, adding that account for 65 percent of the company's total sales.
