Second Perry Hall Walgreens to Open Winter 2012
The drug store will open in place of the since-demolished Direct Home Furnishings.

Perry Hall has —and soon there will be one more.
Next winter, a Walgreens is expected to open on the site of the demolished Direct Home Furnishings at 8650 Belair Road, a company spokesman said.
The new store will be built about two miles south of another , . Two stores, on Belair and Ebenezer roads, and two stores, about two-and-a-half miles apart on , also serve the community.

Wayne Lauman, past owner of Direct Home Furnishings, formerly known as Lauman's Furniture, sold the property to the Walgreens corporation in 2010.
Lauman, a longtime Perry Hall resident who currently lives in Ocean City and runs deep sea fishing charters, said that he began searching for a buyer for the struggling furniture business in 2009.

"I had to generate some income ... we received some interest from Walgreens," he said.
Robert Elfinger, a Walgreens spokesman, said he could not comment on the geographic spacing of stores or how locations were chosen.
The new store, about 14,550 square feet, will include a pharmacy, a grocery section and "aisles of everyday essential items," Elfinger said.
The store will join 7,680 other Walgreens stores in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, he added.
