'Stay Off The Gunpowder River': Natural Resources Police

BREAKING: Rescues are underway at the Gunpowder Sunday afternoon, Maryland Natural Resources Police reported.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Authorities have asked people to stay off the Gunpowder River. Citing unsafe conditions and multiple rescues, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police issued a statement on Sunday afternoon advising those looking for recreation outdoors to do it elsewhere.

"Please stay off the Gunpowder River," Natural Resources Police said in a statement at 4:13 p.m.

"It remains treacherous, with fast-moving water and downed trees," police said. "Two swift-water rescues going on: at Belair Road and in the Monkton area. Conditions are difficult even for experts."
