A baby boy was delivered near a construction zone on I-695 Thursday evening, Maryland State Police reported.

Maryland state troopers helped deliver a baby on the side of the highway overnight, police reported Friday morning.
At 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, police said a vehicle pulled over into a construction area off Interstate 695. A man got out, ran over to two troopers working overtime at the construction area and said his wife was having labor pains, Maryland State Police reported.

Recognizing the labor pains were intensifying, Trooper First Class Zachary Mills put himself in a position to assist with the delivery, according to officials, who said the boy was delivered into his arms in one push.
For five minutes until medics arrived, the baby was swaddled in towels the family had brought with them.
