UPDATE: Perry Hall Firestone to Open Mid-February

The Belair Road store is 95 percent complete, a spokesman said.

Perry Hall's planned facility is nearing completion.

Construction is 95 percent finished and the store is expected to open in mid-February, according to Jeremy Smith, a spokesman for Bridgestone Retail Operations-Communications, Firestone's parent company.

The 10-bay auto shop is located between and the along the 9600 block of Belair Road.

Smith confirmed plans for the store . It was originally expected to open in late December. The facility will offer vehicle maintenance, repairs and tires.

Managers plan to hire 10-12 people to work at the new store, Smith said during an August interview. He said he was unable to share how much money was being invested in the new store.

The Firestone is planned within a short distance of several independently owned vehicle maintenance and repair shops, including directly across the street.

Smith said the new store is part of an "expansion program to go into new markets where we feel there is a lot of potential."

"There are situations where we'll be in competition with other businesses, but we feel we offer a unique experience," he added.
