UPDATE: Water Main Repaired, Northbound Belair to Remain Closed Overnight

UPDATE (8 p.m.)—A portion of northbound Belair Road would likely remain closed overnight, as crews filled in the road with stone and covered it with a steel plate, said Kurt Kocher, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works. 

Drivers may avoid the closure by using Harford Road instead, Kocher said.

UPDATE (4:21 p.m.)—Repairs to a broken 12-inch water main at Dunfield and Belair roads were completed as of 4:20 p.m., said Kurt Kocher, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works. 

The water main had been broken for about 12 hours.

A portion of northbound Belair Road would remain closed into the evening as crews filled in the road with stone and covered it with a steel plate, Kocher said. 

Water service to about 50 homes and businesses between Dunfield Road and BJ's Wholesale Club, along the 4100 block of Wholesale Club Drive in the South Perry Hall area, was expected to be restored by about 4:30 p.m., Kocher said.

He encouraged affected residents to run their faucets for a few minutes before using the water.

UPDATE (3:13 p.m.)—Repairs to a water main break at Dunfield and Belair roads continued into late Tuesday afternoon.

"Northbound Belair could be closed quite a while," said Kurt Kocher, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.

UPDATE (8:36 a.m.)—A water main broke at Dunfield and Belair roads before 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to Kurt Kocher, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.

Water service was shut down by about 8:30 a.m. to about 50 homes and businesses between Dunfield Road and BJ's Wholesale Club, along the 4100 block of Wholesale Club Drive in the South Perry Hall area, Kocher said.

A portion of the northbound lanes of Belair Road was closed, while southbound lanes remained open, he said.

A Patch user reported that several inches of water were covering Belair Road as of 4:30 a.m.
