Weekend Fun in Perry Hall

Is there anything going on in Perry Hall this weekend?

Yes—probably more than you'll have time to do.

First, we recommend that you attend the opening weekend of the Fall Festival Days at the Chapel Hills Farm & Nursery. Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, you'll find scarecrow making, pony rides, horse and tractor rides, train rides, a goat walk, a petting zoo, a hay bounce, a children's mini hay maze, pumpkins, straw and cornstalks! Live country music from Big Daddy Country, pit beef and other refreshments add to the fun.

This event will continue every Saturday and Sunday through October. Its central location in Perry Hall, near the intersection of Chapel and Joppa Road, makes it an easily accessible all-day activity for the whole family. Opening weekend generally draws hundreds of attendees, so get there as early as possible to find parking. Admission is free, while rides, food and activities require payment.

Next, as part of the 2010 Party on the Plaza Concert Series, there will be two concerts this weekend at the Avenue at White Marsh. While these events aren't exactly in Perry Hall, a short drive down Honeygo Boulevard will take you straight to the action. On Friday, Sept. 17, Higher Hands, a band that describes itself as a "funky soul fusion with a twist of rhyme" will perform outdoors at the Avenue's main plaza between 7 and 9 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 18, the Donegal X-Press, a band that categorizes its tunes as "traditional Irish music with American country and blues, folk and rock, rhythm and funk," will perform at the same place and time. Admission is free to both concerts.

Last but not least, take the kids out for a free outdoor showing of Finding Nemo, on the grounds of the Honeygo Run Regional Park on Saturday, Sept. 18, starting at 8 p.m. This weekend's movie is the third installment in the Movies in the Park series, sponsored by Trinity Assemblies of God and Page Consulting Group, in partnership with the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks. Pre-movie activities, including balloon sculpture and the Chick-fil-A Cow begin at 7:40 p.m., so get there early. Last weekend, the entire parking lot was filled shortly after the movie started.
