Who to Call About Overgrown Grass in Perry Hall
Residents have complained about bushy and overgrown grass in public areas.

It's an age-old complaint: While many homeowners go to great lengths to mow their lawns, several public areas appear bushy and overgrown.
Community members have contacted Patch via email and Facebook with reports of tall grass along median strips and sidewalks along Honeygo Boulevard, Silver Spring Road, Perry Hall Boulevard, Joppa Road, Cowenton Avenue, Gerst Road and in Mt. Vista Regional Park.
Dennis M. Robinson Jr., president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, suggests that residents contact the Baltimore County Department of Public Works about tall grass on public land and Baltimore County Code Enforcement about tall grass on private land.

Robinson released the following statement Monday:
The Perry Hall Improvement Association remains committed to working with residents to maintain the appearance of our community. Every time a resident informs me of tall grass, I contact the appropriate agency and request that the area be mowed. I also routinely report areas that need attention when I notice them. If the tall grass is on private property, residents can contact Baltimore County Code Enforcement. If the tall grass is on Baltimore County property, residents should contact Baltimore County Department of Public Works. The more residents we have reporting tall grass, the more likely it is that the areas will be mowed.

But a representative of the Department of Public Works told Patch that residents may need to speak to several operators before they are connected to the appropriate department to report overgrown grass.
Lawn maintenance is handled by the department that manages each individual plot of land:
- Baltimore County Public Schools handles grass around public schools.
- The county Bureau of Highways handles grass in median strips and along sidewalks.
- The county Department of Recreation and Parks handles grass in parks.
- The State Highway Administration handles grass along state highways.
- And grassy areas near utility poles or transmission towers are often outside the jurisdiction of the county. They are handled by Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.
Whenever possible, residents are encouraged to contact the department that best corresponds to the area where the grass is growing.
