Woman Died After Joppa Crash: Police

Community mourns loss of 21-year-old who died from crash on Interstate 95 near Joppa.

FOREST HILL, MD - Children who normally assemble for cheer instead wept together Thursday night, after a crash ended the life of their beloved cheer coach.

Bryanna โ€œBryโ€ Ey, 21, had been driving her Honda Accord north on I-95 when, just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, police said she abruptly changed lanes and was hit by a tractor trailer. Her vehicle spun out of control, hitting a jersey wall and the side of a truck, Maryland State Police reported.

Ey was airlifted to shock trauma, where officials said she was declared deceased Thursday morning.

Ey was studying nursing at Towson University and also worked at Lunar Allstars in Forest Hill, teaching children cheer and dance.

โ€œWe had a team in here that was her team. We were wondering where she was, and we were calling anyone and everyone to find out what was going on,โ€ Lunar Allstars co-owner Tracy Unkart told ABC 2 News. โ€œOnce we heard it was her, it was almost just a state of disbelief. And when we had to tell the kids, they were just devastated, absolutely heartbroken.โ€

Unkart described Ey as โ€œmotivatingโ€ and said: โ€œ...kids wanted to work for her,โ€ in an interview with WJZ.

The Forest Hill studio held a candlelight vigil Thursday night to remember Ey. The 7 p.m. Lunar Allstars gathering was followed by an 8 p.m. vigil open to the public.

There will also be a celebration of life in remembrance of Bryanna Ey at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, at Gray Manor Park, 7607 Parkwood Drive, Dundalk.
