WTOP: White Marsh Speed Camera Registers 12K Fines Per Month

An I-95 speed camera near White Marsh produces the most citations in the state.

A Washington, D.C. radio station reports that a speed camera along Interstate 95 near White Marsh produces an average of 12,000 fines per month. 

Adam Tuss of WTOP 103.5 FM reported in an article published yesterday: 

Since it was set up 17 months ago, the camera on I-95 near White Marsh (along the Express Toll Lanes project) has snapped a whopping 204,779 citations—an average of more than 12,000 fines a month. The posted speed limit in that work zone is 55 mph.

This work zone camera takes the highest number of pictures in the state, Tuss reported. Drivers must be traveling more than 12 miles over the speed limit in a work zone to receive the $40 fine. 

The story also features a list of other high-producing speed cameras, including one along Baltimore-Washington Parkway which takes more than 7,000 pictures per month.
