Cecil County Public Schools Make Weather Decision

The school system announced impacts to classes, programs on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

On Tuesday morning, Cecil County Public Schools officials announced the following schedule changes:

Due to inclement weather, schools will open two hours late with a modified Pre-K and pre-school schedule.

Maintenance, operations, and food services employees are to report to work on time for their normal shift unless directed to do otherwise.

All other employees are to report to work as soon as possible given road conditions.

  • Morning Session: 11 a.m. – 12:50 p.m.
  • Afternoon Session: 1:50 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. (may vary slightly by school)

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Tuesday morning alerting drivers that there may be icy spots on untreated roads from the snow and below-freezing temperatures.

Roads, bridges and overpasses may be slippery. The Maryland Transportation Authority advised drivers to allow themselves extra time.

Snowfall is expected to continue through mid-morning, with 0.5 inch of additional accumulation falling by 11 a.m. in Perryville, according to the forecast.
