Weather Call From CCPS Updated For Feb. 11

Cecil County Public Schools has revised its decision for Monday due to inclement weather.

CECIL COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Cecil County will be closed on Monday, Feb. 11. This is an update to a previous decision to open late.

"Due to inclement weather, schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 11," according to a statement Cecil County Public Schools issued before 7 a.m.

Cecil College will also be closed on Monday, Feb. 11.

Cecil County government employees will be on liberal leave Monday, Feb. 11. Essential employees should report as scheduled.

The Elkton Center will be closed on Monday, Feb. 11, officials said.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon Monday in Cecil County.

Between 1 and 3 inches of snow may fall during that time, with locally higher amounts possible in some areas, the advisory states. A light glaze of ice is also possible.

This is the first round of wintry weather expected to hit the area, according to the National Weather Service.

"A lull in the precipitation may occur for much of the day [Monday] before increasing again this evening and overnight," according to the winter weather advisory.

The wintry mix Monday night is expected to change to all rain by Tuesday afternoon. Heavy rain may lead to localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Schools will open two hours late on Monday, according to Cecil County Public Schools.

Prekindergarten and preschool will be on the following modified schedule:

  • 11 a.m.–12:50 p.m. for the morning session
  • 1:50–3:30 p.m. for the afternoon session
