Cecil County Kicks Off Intramural Sports in Middle Schools

The program is a partnership between the school system and Cecil County Parks and Recreation.

Starting in May, Cecil County middle school students can participate in intramural sports through a new program with the Parks and Recreation Department, the school system announced this week.

The program will include each school and focus on sportsmanship and fitness, rather than on competition, through sports like soccer and kickball. It will also provide a cost savings opportunity, according to a statement from the school system; the parks department will design and fund the program, while the schools will host and staff it.

“Working together, our agencies will be able to provide more opportunities for our middle school students to participate in safe, healthy, and enjoyable after school activities," stated Cecil County Public Schools Superintendent D’Ette Devine.
