Maryland crabs from the Baltimore area are among 20 regional specialties selected as "Best Iconic American Foods" by an expert panel from USA TODAY.
"They're the history of Maryland," Phillips Seafood executive chef Bill Sexton told WBAL-TV Baltimore.
USA TODAY announced the launch of the 10 Best Readers' Choice Travel Awards in late June. Readers can vote for their favorite destinations, experiences and amenities.
In the Best Iconic American Foods category, voting ends at 11:59 a.m. Monday, July 22, and the winner will be revealed on 10 Best.com and USA TODAY on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.
Other cities' iconic foods in the running include Atlanta's southern fried chicken, Chicago's Italian beef sandwiches, New York's pastrami and more.
