Kunzang Palyul Choling Buddhist Temple Hosts Fundraising Webathon

Let Love Open the Door Drive, Sunday, May 19, 5 to 8 p.m. EST

Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC) Tibetan Buddhist Temple in Poolesville, MD will host a fundraising webathon on Sunday, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. EST. The temple’s doors have been closed to public assembly since March 1 until the building can meet compliance requirements with the current Montgomery County Building Use and Occupancy Code. While KPC is waiting for a decision on the interpretation of zoning options which will determine the need for renovation or rebuilding, they have also started a fundraising drive to build up a renovation fund for use whenever the process can begin.

At the same time, KPC continues to offer events and programs that can be held on the temple grounds and 65-acre Peace Park, and additionally maintains its 24-hour prayer vigil, currently in its 29th year. And while the doors are closed to public assembly, the temple is still operational and still open to visitors wishing to make use of the facilities, and there is still a need to meet the monthly operating expenses.

The goal of the Let Love Open the Door webathon is to increase the number of monthly supporters, or Friends of KPC. The goal is to garner 200 more supporters. One can become a Friend of KPC for a recurring monthly donation. The Friends campaign will generate more long-term sustainable funds to support both the operating expenses and renovation fund. The webathon will air video and still footage from the past three decades, including teachings and blessings given by revered Buddhist masters, and will showcase the music of singer/songwriter Adalia Tara.
