FREE, family-friendly event in downtown Rockville commemorates 150 years since end of slavery in Maryland, Sat, Nov. 1, 12-4, RAIN OR SHINE!
On Sat., Nov. 1, the Montgomery County Historical Society will honor the 150th anniversary of the end of slavery in Maryland with an afternoon of free, family-friendly events and performances at the Beall-Dawson Park in Rockville, RAIN OR SHINE! Meet 1864 historic re-enactors including President Abraham Lincoln, escaped slave Ann Maria Weems, free blacks Enoch and Harriet Howard, Dr. Edward Stonestreet. View slavery and emancipation-related documents and artifacts. Tour historic house and doctorโs office. Listen to African American songs of struggle and perseverance by the Washington Revels Jubilee Voices.
