Ice Cream Event In Potomac To Support Backpack Drive For MoCo Students

An Ice Cream Social for Charity will take place at Park Potomac on Aug. 19 to provide more than 3,000 schoolchildren with new backpacks.

POTOMAC, MD — An Ice Cream Social for Charity will take place at Park Potomac on Aug. 19 to provide more than 3,000 Montgomery County schoolchildren with new backpacks filled with supplies for the start of the new school year.

The 15th annual charity event, from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, will benefit the Interfaith Works “We’ve Got Your Back” campaign. It will include food and vendor tables, “touch trucks,” live music by the Rock-a-Sonics, face painting, games and activities.

Ice cream will be provided by Carmen’s. Ice cream tickets are $6 in advance at 12500 Park Potomac Ave. and $10 at the event.

All donations received will be distributed to students at the Interfaith Works Essential Needs Center at 751 Twinbrook Pkwy #8 in Rockville.

Attendees at the April 19 event are encouraged to bring new backpacks to donate. Interfaith Works is a Montgomery County nonprofit.
