The Mediterranean Diet May Be the Best Medicine for Us, is topic of Potomac Community Village October 20 program
Potomac Community Village hosts free, open-to-all event with cookbook author Amy Riolo

Eating right and eating well go hand in hand - the message of "The Mediterranean Diet - Delicious
Food Prescriptions For Transforming Illness," according to Amy Riolo, award-winning chef, author, culture and cuisine expert at Potomac Community Village's October 20 meeting.
Ms. Riolo gives PCV members and guests a thoughtful, colorful and delicious presentation of what she considers culinary medicine and how we should think about food and its preparation. Fitting in perfectly with October's International Vegetarian Month and November's International Diabetes Awareness
Month, Riolo extols the benefits of a plant-based diet.
"When you can combine taste, healthy ingredients and cooking methodology, appealing visual presentations, and even cultural and diplomatic significance, it is the ultimate satisfaction," says Riolo. An American of Italian descent (Calabria) and speaking several languages including conversational Arabic, Ms.
Riolo shares culture, history and nutrition through cuisine. She is the author of a culinary/cultural blog featuring a global cuisine and its creators. Her books, teachings and presentations have been aired and shared worldwide, including professional and recreational cooking classes in Italy, Greece, Turkey and Egypt and in the Washington, DC area. As a guest speaker for dozens of organizations including The Library of Congress, the Travel Channel, National Geographic, and the Walters Art Museum, Riolo also devotes her time to
mentoring culinary students and teaching children's cooking classes. She created a model to teach medical practitioners how to help patients understand dietary guidelines and implement delicious and practical recipes at home.
