Community Crisis Services Announces Performances
Riverdale is encouraged to attend the activities in May and June to be conducted by Community Crisis Services Inc.
From Community Crisis Services Inc.: Community Crisis Services Inc. has teamed up with some incredible organizations and individuals to help those in need, provide an incredible one day only Celebration of Hope, have some fantastic food and fellowship and bring great theatre to Prince George's County Maryland.
CCSI will again be participating in the #DoMore24 Campaign powered by United Way. We've chosen to focus this years campaign on mental health in our community and have a full compliment of events scheduled with more in the process! CCSI offers information and referral, shelter, and suicide prevention/intervention efforts. More information can be found at www.communitycrisis.org.
First up we'll partner for Dancing at Midnight where a portion of the proceeds will benefit CCSI's #DoMore24 Campaign! Opening May 4th at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riverdale MD., Dancing at Midnight is filled with humor, heart and hope! The show looks at Caroline (Allison Turkel) as she faces the end of her life and her questions as to whether she is going to allow her disease to run its natural course, or end her life at the time of her choosing. Spanning Halloween until New Years, we see her and her family including mother Elizabeth (Sue Schaffel), father Paul (Stanley Livengood), husband Brad (Paul Davis), brother Jim (Nick Duckworth) his partner Scott (Michael Mangiapane), sister Angie (Betse Lyons) and boyfriend Allen (Steven Barroga) struggle with quesions of morality, mortality, their own relationships and the need to maintain a sense of normalcy during the holiday season.

St. John's provides the Bountiful Blessings Program (items not covered under food stamps) and a portion of ticket sales will go to help this program. Find out more about St. John's here. Ticket sales for Dancing at Midnight can be found here.

On Saturday, June 3th CCSI supporter Dannielle Beitzell will be bringing her BBQ Birthday Bonanza! This all you can eat buffet style event is designed to help CCSI's Warm Nights and Overflow Shelter Programs. Tickets for Dani's BBQ Birthday Bonanza can be purchased here.

P.S. There is Hope is focused on Mental Health in our Community. With the current political and social climate, CCSI is seeing an increase in calls related to anxiety, depression and fear. Many with these feelings are reaching out through their various hotlines, and this event looks at the positive aspects of an agency such as CommunityCrisis Services Inc and the benefits provided. William Leary's Forsaken Angels will be opening on June 8th at First Baptist Church of Hyattsville. FBCH offers a new food pantry, Holiday Meals, an MS support group, and the Hyattsville Chaplaincy Program. This production will benefit Mental Health Awareness and shelter opportunities through Community Crisis Services Inc. #DoMore24 Campaign.
Produced by CCSI, Wolf Pack Theatre Company and FBCH, Forsaken Angels is a Maryland State Arts Council Award Winner and multiple DC Metro Theatre Arts 'Best Of' Honored production focused on sexual trafficking. There will be an opening night reception immediately following the production.
