📰 News we're reading

• Ten Ren Tea Closes Rockville Location After More Than 20 Years (mocoshow.com) — Ten Ren Tea has closed its Rockville Wintergreen Plaza shop after more than 20 years, with its lease ending April 5. The beloved Taiwanese tea spot helped introduce bubble tea locally, and its departure comes as newer chains like HeyTea reshape Rockville’s growing tea scene along Rockville Pike.

• It's all about joy! (kpcnews.com) — A Rockville family found unexpected hilarity at a local church “Eras Concert” fundraiser when 9-year-old Florentina enthusiastically shouted “zucchini” instead of “tequila” during a song cue. Her love of zucchini and total confusion over everyone’s laughter turned a simple misheard lyric into a moment of pure, shared joy.

• MoCo legislators' biggest wins from the 2026 General Assembly session (bethesdamagazine.com) — Rockville residents are seeing their state delegates tout new wins in Annapolis, from projected energy-bill savings under the Utility RELIEF Act to record funding for Montgomery County Public Schools projects. Rockville’s District 17 delegate Julie Palakovich Carr also helped advance immigrant-protection measures and pushed for more flexibility on snow-day makeups, which contributed to the state approving an earlier June 18 end to the school year.
