At the scene, responders found Thai in the roadway with serious injuries, police said. She was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

Preliminary findings indicate the driver of a black 2011 Acura RDX was traveling northbound on North Horners Lane when the vehicle struck Thai near the intersection with Southlawn Lane, according to police.

The driver, who remained at the scene, has not been identified by police. It's also unclear if any charges are being considered in the case.

Police said Thai’s path of travel remains under investigation, as investigators say there were no signs of impairment.

Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives by emailing crunit@montgomerycountymd.gov or by calling 240-773-6620.
