Coalition Challenges MCPS' Wootton HS Decision (patch.com) — Rockville families are challenging Montgomery County’s decision to move many Wootton High School students from Rockville to the new Crown High School in Gaithersburg, arguing the process was rushed and based on flawed data. The coalition has filed an appeal with the Maryland State Board of Education, seeking a reconsideration of the March 26 vote that reshaped school assignments across much of the county.    

2. Assaults, Robbery, and School Weapon Incident Highlight April 29 Crime Report (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County police logged several April 29 incidents in and around Rockville, including a strong-arm robbery near 21 Church Street and a burglary at homes under construction off Odessa Shannon Way. Craig Venter Institute on local maps, as its Rockville campus is one of two sites for the famed genomics group. Its founder, J. Craig Venter, has died at 79 after pioneering work that helped decode the human genome and advance understanding of many diseases.

Craig Venter Institute on local signage as they learn that its famed founder, genome pioneer J. Craig Venter, has died at 79. His work racing to sequence the human genome transformed medicine and genetics worldwide, from understanding disease risks to advancing synthetic biology, and his institute maintains a major presence in Rockville alongside its California campus.
