As the two motorcyclists traveled together on the westbound lanes of Norbeck Road, they made contact, lost control and both went off the roadway. It's unclear what prompted the two motorcyclists to make contact with one another.

Police were called to the intersection of Norbeck Road and Hannans Way shortly after 1 a.m. The uninjured operator of the 2006 Honda remained at the scene.

Preliminary findings released by the department detail that Hale had hit a curb and a traffic sign support.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone with knowledge related to the incident is urged to contact investigators at 240-773-6620.
