Boy Who Died in Fiery Crash Identified
His mother was seriously burned in the one-vehicle crash in Gaithersburg Tuesday.

Authorities have identified the woman who was injured early Tuesday in a Gaithersburg car crash, and her 5-year-old son, who died in the fiery accident.
Montgomery County Police say Daniel Dana was a rear-seat passenger in the vehicle driven by his mother, Narges Shafeirad, 33. Her vehicle was reported on fire about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday off the road near the westbound lanes of Sam Eig Highway (Route 370) and Fields Road.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel saw Shafeirad with the vehicle; she told first responders her son was inside the vehicle. Rescuers attempted to force open the vehicle, breaking glass, and then extinguishing the fire, but were unable to remove the boy.
Shafeirad is in serious condition at a local trauma center with burns.

Investigators continue to investigate the circumstances of the fatal accident. Police and Fire Marshals are asking anyone with information about the accident to call 240-773-6620.
