ROCKVILLE, MD — As the country continues to grapple with the opioid crisis, the City of Rockville is hoping to raise awareness about the deadly drug addiction through an 800-pound opioid spoon sculpture.

The temporary sculpture — located in Rockville Town Square on Gibbs Street — is part of the Opioid Spoon Project Honor Tour, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m. on June 7. The tour stop is co-hosted by Rockville's mayor and council, as well as the Montgomery County Council of PTAs Substance Use Prevention Committee.

At the tour stop, people can sign the sculpture in honor of loved ones lost to the opioid epidemic.
