Cyclist Struck in Rockville, Pedestrian Struck in Silver Spring

Afternoon storms also causing dangerous lightening strikes in Montgomery County.

The latest line of storms has caused a string of emergency incidents in Montgomery County, according to Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Pete Piringer.

The latest incidents since 4 p.m.:

  • Tree struck by lightning hits house at 8920 1st Avenue in Silver Spring.
  • Cyclist struck at the corner of Parkland Drive and Aspen Hill Road in Rockville.
  • Shed fire after it was struck by lightning in the 10700 block of Columbia Pike.
  • Lightening strike sets a pole on fire at East West Highway and Glendale Road, blocking some lanes.
  • Smoke in the building at Flower Valley Elementary School.
  • Pedestrian struck in the 11000 block of Veirs Mill Road, Silver Spring, in front of the Wendy’s.
