Driver Crashes Into Montgomery Village Hibachi Restaurant
The Kobe Japan sushi and hibachi restaurant in Montgomery Village is temporarily closed after a car crashed into the eatery's entrance.
MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, MD — The driver of an SUV crashed into the hibachi Kobe Japan restaurant early Thursday in Montgomery Village, authorities said.
Pete Piringer, a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said the collision happened after 9:30 a.m. in the 19200 block of Montgomery Village Avenue, near Centerway Road.
A total of four MCFRS crews responded to the scene.

Photos from the scene showed a Hyundai SUV dangling from a waist-high barrier as one of the restaurant's window panes is smashed to pieces.

The driver of the car was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Authorities did not state what caused the driver to crash into the restaurant's entrance.
An employee of the sushi and hibachi restaurant told WUSA9 that it was unclear when the restaurant would reopen to the public, but that it could be as soon as Friday.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said a building inspector had been alerted to determine the stability of the restaurant.
