Ex-Boyfriend Faces Murder Charge In Death Of Rockville Woman: Police

A Rockville man is in police custody in St. Louis, awaiting extradition to Maryland where he faces a first degree murder charge.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Rockville man was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend, 20-year-old Keylin Yolibeth Chavez-Dominguez, according to a police release.

Friends and family members first reported Chavez-Dominguez missing from her Rockville home on Dec. 30, 2022, according to the release.

After Chavez-Dominguez's body was found at Upper Paint Branch Stream Valley Park in College Park on Jan. 28, Montgomery County Police opened a homicide investigation into her death.

Through their investigation, detectives identified Chavez-Dominguez's ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Francisco Ramon Lara Garcia, as a suspect in the case. The couple was living together at the time of Chavez-Dominguez's disappearance, according to police.

On Feb. 1, U.S. Marshals tracked Lara Garcia to a residence in Kirkwood, Missouri, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

Montgomery County detectives requested and received an arrest warrant on Feb. 13, charging Lara Garcia with first degree murder. Lara Garcia remains in custody in St. Louis, where he is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
