Fatal Shooting Of 29-Year-Old Silver Spring Man Under Investigation

A 29-year-old man was fatally shot early Friday morning in the parking lot of a Silver Spring apartment complex.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Police detectives are investigating the fatal shooting Friday morning of 29-year-old Nathaniel Potts of Silver Spring, according to a release.

Officers responded around 3:05 a.m., to the parking lot of the Summit Hills Apartment complex, which is located in the 8500 block of 16th Street, for the report of a shooting. That's where they found Potts suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Potts was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, but he was pronounced dead, according to police.

A preliminary investigation of the crime scene revealed that Potts was in the apartment complex's parking lot when he was shot.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for this homicide. Callers may remain anonymous.
