Fresh Express Recalls Romaine Salad Across Maryland
A Fresh Express romaine salad product distributed in Maryland may have allergens that aren't marked on the packaging, prompting a recall.

Fresh Express Incorporated has issued a voluntary recall of 100 cases of 9 oz. Fresh Express Hearts of Romaine Salad because of a possible exposure to undeclared allergens, including egg, milk, wheat, and anchovy. The salads were distributed in Maryland with product codes of H34711A or H34711B and have a Use-By Date of Dec. 27, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Fresh Express representatives are coordinating with retailers to ensure the recalled product is removed from store shelves. No illnesses have been reported so far and no other Fresh Express products are included in this recall.
A single condiment packet for Fresh Express Greek Caesar Salad was mistakenly added to a Fresh Express Hearts of Romaine Salad, which prompted the recall, the company says. Although the condiments are in a separate clear packet and labeled "Greek Caesar," ingredients for the condiments are not listed on the package label so consumers may not be aware that the allergens (egg, milk, wheat, and anchovy) could be present.
