Fuel Spill Sends Gas Through MD Street, Into Pond
A fuel spill in Rockville over the weekend saw an unknown amount of gasoline into a storm sewer.

ROCKVILLE, MD — First responders deployed containment booms over the weekend after a fuel spill drained into a nearby pond.
David Pazos, of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said first responders were dispatched Saturday at about 9:30 p.m. to the area of Rockville Pike and Rollins Avenue.
Pazos said that a fuel delivery truck encountered "an issue with dispensing gasoline" and that the mishap led to an unknown quantity of gas flowing down the street and into a storm sewer.

Officials did not disclose at which gas station the incident occurred. There are three gas stations — Shell, Liberty and BP — at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Rollins Avenue.
The cleanup response saw county hazmat personnel assist the Maryland Department of the Environment in establishing containment booms in a nearby pond impacted by the spill.

According to MCFRS, the fuel spill did not prompt any "life safety concerns" at residential buildings in the vicinity.
