Large Water Main Break Forces Road Closures, School Dismissal: Police
A major water main break in Rockville forced multiple road closures and prompted high school students to be dismissed early, police said.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A massive water main break has forced the closure of multiple roadways in Rockville and prompted an early school dismissal.
A release issued by the City of Rockville states "Wootton Parkway is closed to through traffic between Greenplace Terrace and Hurley Avenue."

The Montgomery County Police Department said Friday that the water main break was traced to the 2100 block of Wootton Parkway.
The Thomas S. Wootton High School is located at 2100 Wootton Parkway.

Details released by the department indicated high school students were dismissed by 10:15 a.m.
"The school is accessible to parents and guardians picking up students with access to Wootton Parkway from either side," reads the city's release.
Police are urging residents to "avoid unnecessary travel in the area to allow crews to complete their work."
City officials said no other customers were impacted by the water main break.
