On The Road

As of 7:24 a.m., a truck lost a load of lumber on southbound I-270 before MD-109, blocking the left side of the roadway, according to WTOP Traffic. [Hyattstown, MD]

As of 7:11 a.m., a single lane of the the Inner Loop of the Baltimore Beltway/I-695 is closed prior to MD-648 due to the late-lifting of roadwork, according MDSHA. [Anne Arundel County, MD]

As of 7:10 a.m., Between Aug. 4 and 7, the Maryland Department of Transportation and the State Highway administration will be collecting traffic data on the Oceanic Drive at US 50 ramp near the Bay Bridge using a temporary traffic signal. Motorists should stay alert, according to MDOT. [Bay Bridge, MD]

On Metro

As of 7:23 a.m., Metrobus routes U5 and U6 are experiencing delays in both directions on Anacostia Road, Southeast due to police activity, according to Metro. [Anacostia, DC]

As of 7:21 a.m., Metrobus routes C4, F4,F6, and R2 are experiencing delays in both directions due to an accident on Ager Road at Oglethorpe Street, according to Metro. [Washington, DC]

Local and Express shuttle bus service available at Stadium-Armory due to the summer platform improvement project, according to Metro. Several stations in Maryland on the Orange Line are closed due to the project: Minnesota Avenue, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, and New Carrollton. [Washington, DC]

On MARC

As of 2:53 a.m., Commuter Bus Route 820 - Trip #6 is not operating Thursday due to a driver shortage, according to MTA. This will affect Route 810 (Pindell-Washington, DC) and North Beach/PG Equestrian Center, DC). [Capital Heights, DC]

DC Weather

National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan areas for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Thursday. Heat index values off around 105 are expected. The advisory includes D.C., Baltimore, and portions of Maryland and Northern Virginia. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

With extreme heat expected on Thursday, Mayor Muriel Bowser activated the District's Heat Emergency Plan, which will go into effect at 11 a.m. This activates cooling centers across the District.

Thursday will be sunny with a high of 95 and a low of 73, according to the AccuWeather forecast. The temperature in Rockville, Maryland at 7:30 a.m. was 71 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
