As the driver continued on Rockville Pike, one of the front wheels of the U-Haul "fell off" and hit another car at Nicholson Lane, according to police.
Police said the truck became disabled just past Montrose Road after being involved in a third collision at Josiah Henson Parkway and East Jefferson Street.
The driver, who abandoned the truck and ran from the scene, was ultimately apprehended by officers in the area of the Federal Plaza shopping area.
The latest comes shortly after several hit-and-run collisions were reported along a 9-mile stretch on Rockville Pike.
