MCPS Asks Families To Help Shape Future School Calendars
Montgomery County students, parents and residents can weigh in on calendar priorities for the next two school years through a new survey.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — While the second week of school may have just wrapped up, preparations for the next two school years are already underway.
Looking to the 2027-28 and 2028-29 school years, Montgomery County school administrators are asking students, parents, guardians, staffers, and community residents to give their feedback on calendar priorities.

The six-question survey specifically asks individuals to weigh in on the following topics:
- How early release days should be handled for the Thanksgiving holiday
- Whether MCPS should begin adopting two-year calendars instead of its current one-year policy
- What MCPS families believe should be prioritized for the school calendar development process
"Your feedback is critical to the process," an MCPS announcement states.

Residents will have the chance to submit their responses until Sept. 20, when the survey officially closes.
