MCPS Classes Start Before Labor Day Next Year
For the first time since 2016, Montgomery County students will start class before Labor Day next year. Here's everything you need to know.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Students in Montgomery County Public Schools will return to classes a bit earlier next year.
The county school board unanimously voted Tuesday to approve the 2020-2021 school calendar, which means classes will begin on Aug. 31 and end June 16.
Maryland's most populous county hasn't started school before Labor Day since 2016, when Republican Gov. Larry Hogan issued an executive order to start classes after the September holiday. Since then, the Maryland General Assembly has overturned the executive order.
