• Public Hearing Notice: Housing and Community Development Needs for FY28 Grant Funding (rockvillemd.gov) — Rockville residents are invited to weigh in on local housing and community development needs at a Mayor and Council public hearing on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at City Hall and online. The city expects about $263,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds and is seeking input on how to direct projects that benefit low- and moderate-income neighbors. You can speak in person, virtually, or by written testimony with advance signup.
   

• Fire rescue responds to uncontained hazmat incident in Rockville hotel (bethesdamagazine.com) — Fire and rescue crews responded Monday afternoon to a reported uncontained hazmat situation at the Extended Stay hotel on Research Boulevard in Rockville, where a strong sulfur-like odor followed a guest mixing chemicals in a room. Firefighters entered the building to investigate as a precaution, and officials say more details will be shared as they become available.
   

• Driver charged in March crash that killed 2 in Rockville (wtop.com) — Two men were killed in a high-speed March crash on Norbeck Road near East Gude Drive in Rockville, and the 24-year-old Rockville driver is now charged with two counts of negligent manslaughter by vehicle. Police say he was driving a BMW at up to 126 mph in a 40 mph zone before losing control; he later turned himself in and was released on bond.
