ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County police officers dedicate their lives to protect and serve the community. But there's one lesser-known member of the force who also deserves some praise, respect...and belly rubs.

Meet Travis the Bloodhound, a tan and brown dog working with the Montgomery County Police Department. Travis is tasked with finding missing residents and, in the best of cases, reuniting them with loved ones.

And last week was a busy one.

With the help of officers — and, of course, a very strong sense of smell — the bloodhound was able to locate two missing people.

"Last week, we helped 4th District officers and Montgomery County Park Police officers locate a missing teen with autism," Travis said in a post on Twitter. "Officers found the teen a couple of miles from where he was last seen. Boy was my human tired after that walk! I loved seeing how happy the teen's family was when we brought him back!"

The second assignment involved finding a 90-year-old woman who had been missing for nearly seven hours.

"Officers found her nearby, wearing her pajamas and lying under a parked pickup truck. She looked like she had been there all night! Humans from our other team, the ones who ride in big red trucks, came and took her to the hospital," Travis said.

Seems like Travis is a very, very good boy. Just look how far he's come! Here's a picture of Travis as a puppy. He was enrolled at the police's K9 academy at the time.
