MoCo Driver Faces Manslaughter Charges In Deadly Crash: Police

ROCKVILLE, MD — A 24-year-old Rockville man is facing two counts of negligent manslaughter by vehicle for the fatal March crash that saw him traveling three times the posted speed limit.

Montgomery County Police said Monday that the department had completed its investigation into Daniel Danny Aguilar Medrano and determined that he was driving between 119 mph and 126 mph when he crashed into a drainage trench in Rockville.

Authorities said Medrano had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.09 approximately one hour after the deadly crash.

The collision occurred March 22 near the intersection of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive, where the posted speed limit is 40 mph.

Police said Medrano was driving a gray 2025 BMW M8 on the eastbound lanes of Norbeck Road when he lost control of the vehicle, crossing a center median and striking a pedestrian signal before the car overturned.

The force of the initial crash caused the car to strike a second curb and pedestrian signal as well as several trees before coming to a stop in a drainage trench off the westbound lanes of Norbeck Road.

While Medrano was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, two passengers — 24-year-olds Abraham D. Huracaya Del Aguila and Alexander J. Medrano Cangalaya — were pronounced dead at the scene.

Medrano turned himself in to authorities Aug. 28 after an arrest warrant was issued against him on Aug. 6. He remains released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
