Montgomery County Election: Council, Executive Races
Maryland will hold party primary elections Tuesday. See who is on the ballot for Montgomery County Executive and County Council.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Maryland primary elections are Tuesday, July 19 and races for Montgomery County Executive and County Council are on the ballot.
Along with County Council, statewide races are on the ballot, including those for governor, comptroller and attorney general. Other Montgomery County races on the ballot are for school board and sheriff.

Election day polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19. Any mail-in ballots for the primaries must be postmarked or placed in the appropriate box by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19.
In Montgomery County, a County Council district means a geographic area in which an elected member of the council must live. In Montgomery County, there are seven district members and three at-large members of the council.

There were a few last-minute changes before the filing deadline in April, including Tom Hucker changing his bid from county executive to a bid for the County Council. Two county executive candidates — Shelly Skolnick and Reardon Sullivan — filed shortly before the deadline.
