Families swarmed the pike on Sunday for the 10K, fun run and festivities.
The Pike's Peek 10K Run & Kids Fun Run brought more than 2,500 runners from around the country to Rockville Pike on Sunday. The 16th running of the race kicked off bright and early at the Shady Grove Metro station. The race, presented by the Montgomery County Road Runners Club and sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, ran the length of MD Route 355, ending at White Flint mall with a post-race celebration.
Toddlers and children joined in on the fun with the 1K Run Around and the 50-meter Toddler Trot around White Flint mall.
Local vendors, including Potomac Pizza and Giuseppi's, served complimentary food throughout the morning for hungry runners while the Kaiser Permente mobile clinic provided free blood pressure and body mass index screenings for all attendees.
